We're Back

Abby's been constipated again. After a little over a week of no poop, which is how long she usually goes between poops, she started trying, only to have hard little Rolo-looking poops. Constipation. After the traumatizing suppository experience, I decided to try prunes first. I also gave her heavily diluted apple juice. This time, she actually like the apple juice. I found that a 50/50 mix is too strong for her, so I mixed 1.5 ounces of juice with 2.5 ounces of water, and she seemed to like it. She still only drank a couple ounces at a time, though. Anyway, Abby LOVED prunes! It was probably our messiest meal yet, though. It's a pain to clean up once it's dried on her face too. This was yesterday.

A few hours after the first serving of prunes and a bottle of apple juice and she was still pooping hard poops, so I gave her another serving of prunes for dinner. This morning, she still hadn't had a real poop, so I gave her another juice bottle and a serving of prunes for lunch. Not long after that, it happened.

This was definitely the worst poop experience yet. Abby had just woken up from her afternoon nap, and drank a bottle of breastmilk. I put her in the ExerSaucer while I hung up a couple shirts from the dryer and made myself a quick snack. I could hear her grunting in the ExerSaucer, but I thought I had some time. She was in a terrific mood, smiling and laughing the whole time. After I put my dish in the dishwasher, I went to get her out, and that's when I saw it.

Her diaper couldn't hold this monstrous poop, and it had leaked down her leg and onto the base of the ExerSaucer! I was terrified of getting her out because I didn't know what I'd find. It was clear she was going to need a bath, but Damon wasn't here to help, so I decided to do it in the kitchen sink. I still remembered her last experience in the sink, and this time wasn't much different.

I stood her up in the sink to get her out of the onesie and diaper she was wearing, and found that her entire back was completely covered in poop! I didn't bother trying to salvage the onesie. It seems most of it was everywhere but in her diaper where it belonged! I really hope she doesn't get constipated again any time soon. It's too bad Abby loved the prunes so much because I won't be feeding those to her again for a long time.

Sorry to hear she is having poop problems. Gavi loved the prunes too. But not so much anymore. He had so many blow out diapers too. In fact just the other day and we had to throw out hios onsie too.
