To Cut or Not To Cut

Abby's been begging for a haircut for some time. I think she just wants to go back to the kiddie haircut place again, though. Damon thinks she needs a haircut. But I can't bring myself to take her! What if the curls on the ends don't come back? Sure, it stayed curly after the first cut 1.5 years ago, but that was then. My biggest issue with cutting her hair is that she still has a lot of blonde on the ends from when she was a baby. If we cut her hair, we're cutting the last bit of baby away! It's so hard to let go! The thing is her hair always looks messy, no matter how often I brush it, because of the curls. She's constantly pushing it out of her face. It's not THAT long yet, so maybe we should wait until summer. But maybe cutting it would save us some time in the mornings. If we do cut it, how short should we go? But, but, but...I just don't know! I love her hair, and wish mine was as soft and healthy and had that gorgeous curl.

I'm a cutter, if it improves hair health and thickness. I just secretly gave Audrey a little, tiny haircut while Donnie was out of town (he's opposed) because her ends were so pointy and thin. I was a little sad b/c they were her baby hair ends, but now her hair looks so much healthier and thicker. I would just cut maybe an inch. That will probably help the tangles without compromising the length too much. Abby's hair is super light on the very ends. Pretty girl!

She does have such pretty hair! That being said, I think just a trim might help with the tangle and get you through to summer. Good luck!

I used to be a non-cutter (hadn't had a trim in upwards of 10 years!) But, I recently had about 6 inches cut off & my hair looks SO MUCH healthier & thicker. So, I recommend cutting off an inch or two (she'll get used to it eventually). And, maybe you could get her some headbands that have that rubbery stuff on the inside to keep them from slipping. I use clips like that & they're amazing!!!! Good luck! Lena

Thanks everyone! I took her to get it cut this weekend. The stylist cut it it to the "spin line" (or something like that), about an inch off. She said if she were to cut more, the curls would disappear. It definitely looks healthier!

Her hair isn't tangly, it's just...unruly. It's constantly in her face and looks messy when we leave it down. She's good about leaving ponytails in, but barrettes tend to come out with all the jumping, dancing, and climbing she does. The girl is in constant motion! I'll post pictures in the next day or so.

I love her hair! Riley had hair like that and Brian decided to cut it. Now it appears her curls are gone. :-( Anyway, it's gorgeous!
